The barns that we salvage were constructed of local materials from the nearby forests. Many types of trees were used to provide the necessary lumber. From the Midwest, oak, hickory and beech were very popular. Other species include ash, poplar, elm, and chestnut. Many of the beams were hand hewed by axe or rough sawn at local sawmills.
We can provide wood of a specific species or we can offer a mixed variety of wood. Please let us know of your interest in the type of wood and if you prefer hand hewed or rough sawn when choosing beams.
